WE ARE
PARALELO
14
Paralelo 14 Coffee started as a coffee tour operator in Antigua, Guatemala. We began to see firsthand the challenges faced by small producers, namely that the scale of their work does not allow them to demand enough margin for their hard work and quality product.
Additionally, their high-quality coffee is often blended with other beans, essentially erasing their value-add.
Luis Minas was one of the young producers who opened our eyes to this. As a young producer, he has been vocal on the issues of the current coffee system in Guatemala. As we began hearing more voices, we decided to join in partnership, and shifted our efforts to be full time coffee roaster, allowing us to empower voices such as Luis’, by selling their coffee directly to you. By offering single-origin coffee, we are able to highlight these great coffees and stories that were produced by true artists.

As a young producer, Luis has worked towards his independence from the status quo. HIs father is the president of the San Miguel Escobar cooperative, and his uncle is their roaster. Luis knows the opportunities that come with building his business. His youth and eagerness to experiment have led to several fermentation experiments with many more planned for the future.
